About Cascadia Kids

Hi! I’m Lora, and I have two kids of my own (ages 14 and 20), and help care for two more in a blended-family situation (ages 7 and 9).

I grew up on the Washington-Oregon border, and I’ve traveled thousands of miles throughout British Columbia, Washington and Oregon, often taking my kids with me. I’m a former librarian, and am now a professional freelance journalist. I’ve written many publications, including Afar, National Geographic Traveler, Family Fun, Parenting, and many more.

My goal is to connect families to the best kid- and parent-friendly hotels, attractions, restaurants and shops in British Columbia, Oregon and Washington. I want to make sure everyone has a good time: parents, kids, grandparents, friends.

I seek out the unusual, interesting, educational and locally owned options.

I don’t write sponsored posts. I do not participate in the creation of advertising content that may appear on my site. Advertiser-provided content, games or ads will be clearly labeled as advertising. Cascadia Kids does not accept nor compose advertorials.

I may, at times, accept discounted or free stays. But I will only recommend hotels, restaurants and attractions that I believe are worthy of raves, much to the displeasure of some hotel owners/PR folks. If I don’t like it, I’ll say so. Although I strive to be fair, because SURPRISE I’m a pretty picky person. I will find everything wrong with a hotel room within minutes.
